WHAT WE TEACH

At Metro Driving School, we are dedicated to teaching you the skills you need to pass your ICBC class 5/7 road test, as well as how to act and react safely while behind the wheel.

We teach; defensive driving techniques, blind spot detection techniques, how to make left turns and right turns in heavy traffic areas where there are lots of hazards such as pedestrians, bicyclists. We cover merging with yield signs and highway, making left turns in traffic circles, 2 way left turn lanes, right turn lane only.

We also cover how to make proper lane changes, did you know making a lane change or stopping on railway tracks is a dangerous action and can result in failure on road test. We cover pull-overs and parallel park, remember to keep 5 meters from fire hydrants when pulling over. We cover reverse park and back stall parking and forward parking as well. Safely merging onto and exiting highway is also covered and turning on left hand delayed lights.

All instructors are ICBC certified and our GLP instructors that means they have ability to teach in classrooms and are fluent in English. We are licensed and bonded and have dual brake and gas pedals for your safety. We don’t just help you pass the road test we help you become a lifelong safe defensive driver.

How to begin

Arrangements are made by emailing or telephoning, and booking appointments for the first lesson or group of lessons.

The student is picked up from home, school or work, and the lesson begins when the student gets into the car. That is, pickup or travel time is not included in lesson time — each lesson is a full sixty minutes, though more than an hour can be scheduled. Further lessons will be scheduled based on the student’s progress and availability.

We recommend . . .

When a potential student is thinking of doing a package, we normally recommend scheduling the first lesson or two right away, even if the test date will be many months ahead.

This helps students to practice important fundamentals all the way through their driving experience. Some students find that these fundamentals can’t quickly or easily be added a short time before their test. “Shoulder checking,” which ICBC stresses, is one obvious example.

We also recommend that when a road test appointment needs to be booked, the appointment should be booked by us. This will prevent any conflicts in scheduling.
